Hair Expo

Hair Expo 2016

Main Stage

At this year’s biggest weekend in Hair, The Ruby Room’s Artistic Team including Laura MacLeod, Kamy Tyson, Anthea Allen and Bree Munt, took it to the main stage at Hair Expo in Melbourne this month to showcase a collection of new and old, traditional and modern. The team discussed how we as a salon and a group of visionaries maintain the heritage of the ruby room while also staying up with new and innovative futuristic approaches. The Heritage aspect featured five models donning tartan, red hues and vivacious shapes in both the hair and clothing. The Future aspect revealed lots of whites, silvers, and sleek hair and makeup. The 20-minute production highlighted The Ruby Room’s success while revelling in our culture, yet embracing our ever-changing industry by connecting with Gen-Y.

Introducing Generation Z

The Hair Expo festivities continued as our Senior Stylist Bree Munt presented her own show on the Launch Pad stage with a collection of three models for her “Introducing Gen Z” session. Bree discussed the importance of recognising and responding to the defining attributes of this emerging generation. As our in-house Insta-Famous celebrity, she also highlighted the relevance of this tech-savvy generation, and talked about how and why they function inside and outside of the salon.

Hair Expo Awards

The weekend concluded with the Hair Expo Awards. The Ruby Room was a finalist for Australian Hairdresser of the Year, and her six-image collection was up for Photographic Collection of the year. The Ruby Room was a finalist for Salon Team of the Year and Salon Business of the Year. Unfortunately, we didn’t bring home any more trophies this year, but we’d like to congratulate all the finalists and the winners of this year’s awards.
