The Ruby Room, AHIA Queenland Salon of the Year 2015.

AHIA Best State Salon Business of the Year QLD

The Ruby Room are experience experts; a pure red ray of vibrancy where staff are nurtured and developed and where clients go to indulge in exceptional hairdressing artistry and benchmark service levels. We asked owner Laura MacLeod to share her award-winning vision with us:

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PASSION FOR AND COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION?

Education has always been a big part of my career and something I am committed to for myself and my team.

For a large portion of my career, I specialized as a Colourist so I have spent the last 5 years growing my styling skills to ensure my entire skill set is strong. Hairdressing is ever evolving and we need to evolve with it.

YOUR ORIGINAL VISION FOR THE BUSINESS WAS FOR A UNIQUE AND VERY BOUTIQUE STYLE SALON- A CITY VIBE WITH A SUBURBAN EASE. TELL US HOW YOU’VE ACHIEVED THAT FEEL IN THE SALON & PARTICULARLY THE THINGS THAT YOU FEEL MAKE YOU UNIQUE TO OTHER SALONS?

We believe that visiting a salon should be an experience and whilst we entire the entire team have excellent technical skills, we also spend time ensuring all parts of the client experience are amazing.

As a hairdresser, you often hear from your client, that the ‘basin is the best bit’ so we have a separate basin retreat room where our clients can completely relax in a dimly lit area with ambient music and fragrant essential oils.

We are also continually growing our consultation and communication skills to ensure our clients feel confident that their needs will be met & they will be able to replicate their look at home.

YOU CLEARLY LOVE CREATING PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLECTIONS AND ENTERING INDUSTRY AWARDS WHERE YOU’VE DONE SO WELL. WHAT YOU MOST LOVE ABOUT THESE? (OTHER THAN WINING, OF COURSE!)?

I love creating photographic collections I see as an opportunity to push my status quo not only in the work you are creating but to compete against your peers and see where you sit.

To have your work captured in an image is a memory you can always keep & something I will enjoy looking back on.
